Allergic reaction to Aveeno Face Wash?
I just bought Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser as well as the moisturizer that is of the same name, and I started feeling a burning sensation and as I was washign it off my face got redder and redder and it was really stinging and then I got red bumps all over my face that I don’t think was there before. Was this an allergic reaction? The active ingredient is salicylic acid in both of them. But I previous used a face wash with the same active ingredient and it didn’t irritate my skin like this. The products are also hypoallergenic So I don’t get why it did this to me.It also has soy extracts and “soy complex” it says, maybe that’s what made me react. I have really sensitive, dry flaky, red skin. Is there any other products that are good that aren’t expensive?
I do not feel that this is an allergic reaction. You have not reported the occurrence of hives or generalized itch. Also, I know that the salicylic acid burns the superficial layers of the epidermis thereby exposing in deeper (more red) layers.
Please lessen the amount of this ointment that you are using. If you use more it will be more corrosive (salicylic acid). Hopefully, there will be problems no more.
