This might be dumb, but what does diaper rash look like?
My little 2 month old has little red bumps all over her “higher up” diaper area..not her bum. (they almost look like little red zits) The doc thought it might be yeast so I have been putting nystatin on it and it seems to be getting worse. But then when I put Aveeno Diaper Rash Cream on it, it seems to get better… the nystatin looks like it takes her skin off. It’s so weird. I think it’s really hurting her too…
(The nystatin has also turned yellow instead of clear – does that mean it has went bad?)
Yes it’s only in that area, not even in her “bum” area just up higher… I will keep up with the Aveeno.
If the nystatin isn’t working, don’t use it. Dr’s aren’t always right. Try straight Zinc Oxide ointment found in the first aid section at the store. It is the active ingredient in diaper rash creams. The straight stuff is a little stronger, cheaper and works very well. You may also try cornstarch powder over the cream.
And diaper rash generally just looks red and raw. Its like if you have a wet shirt or pants and they have rubbed your skin raw. Same thing. Usually there are no bumps unless it’s blistered.
Is that the only place you’ve noticed the bumps?? My kids got something like that if I put a brand of diaper on them they were allergic to. But it would show up around the waist and legs too. Hope I helped.
