I’ve wondered about the potential problems of using Botox. Like all things new, there is no guarantee that there will not be some nasty side-effects that become apparent up the track.
I’ve just read a very interesting article on this very thing. As you are probably aware, the use of Botox injections, to reduce facial movement and therefore reduce wrinkles, has become wildly popular in recent years. Apparently, new research by experts in the field, is showing that Botox injections can cause the skin to become “crepey” because Botox reduces blood flow. Over time, this would cause skin appearance to age due to reduced nutrition to the skin cells in the area of treatment.
There are other potential problems with botox as well. The article says there are warnings that it can cause problems with swallowing and breathing.
It seems that there are definitely advantages to “growing old gracefully” afterall. And, we can use the wonderful anti ageing creams available to help us look our best.

Since Botox is a blocker of the nerve action receptor on muscle cells, I don’t see how it could age the skin, except possibly due to too much muscle inactivity. The article referenced here quotes a facialist and is not a reflection of anything scientific. Also, Botox when used in overly-large or dangerous amounts, can cause generalized paralysis, such as with botulism poisoning. In recommended amounts, there have been no such cases with cosmetic uses of Botox.
You raise a valid point. Like everything, especially in medical-type procedures, if all goes to plan, there shouldn’t be a problem. I’m an advocate for natural treatments, but I know many people like more aggressive intervention, such as botox injections to slow the aging process. As with any treatment, the individual should make an informed decision, and only go ahead if they are happy with the risks involved.
Botox injections are effective but be careful about the overdose and side effects.~.`
Botox is quite dangerous if it not properly administered by qualified doctors*;.
