Dry skin for a week after my first facial?
So I got my first facial last Sunday, and the woman recommended I pick up a basic exfoliating brush and to use it twice a day with my regular soap (Peter Thomas Roth – orange liquid soap). So I bought a Dermalogica brush and Tuesday and Wednesday I used it with the soap. Thursday I noticed my skin on my face was super flaky, parts were itchy, and there are red blotches. I stopped using the brush and used lots of moisturizer throughout the day. Friday I noticed more flaky dry skin and I still have a splotchy red spot that burns when I put moisturizer on it. Today it is less flaky but still there are parts along my nose and lips that are super dry, flaky, and alternate between itchy and slightly sore.
What is going on? Any ideas? I figured that maybe using the exfoliating brush in conjunction with the soap, which states it can dry skin out, is the problem. I hardly ever get dry flaky skin so this is pretty unusual. What mostly freaks me out is the super dry red, sore splotch.
Your skin may be having an allergic reaction to the products that were used but I wouldn’t over analyze it. Take a break form using the moisturizer. I have a ton of expensive creams and moisturizers but the Eucerin “dry skin therapy original moisturizing cream” is by far the best and wicked cheap! I highly recommend it!
