Do I use too many skincare products on my face?
this is what i use:
Face Wash- Olay Nourishing 7-1 Total Effects Cream Cleanser
Toner- Lush Tea Tree Water
Moisturizer- Olay SPF 15 for sensitive skin
treatment: Oxy Clinical Acne Spot Treatment
night:
Face Wash: the Morning one or St. Ives Apricot Skin for blemishes
Toner: same
Moisturizer: Olay Beauty Fluid
Treatment: prescription from doctor
my dad thinks i use too much on my face and i should just try soap and water. my skin still get’s breakouts and i still have black heads and big pores. even with using all of the products that i do. i just want clear healthy skin. i’m a 15 year old girl, btw. should i try the simple skin care?
with this routine, my skin is not clear.
First off. Your dad is wrong. Never use soap on your face. Soap dries out the skin, which in turn leads to an increase in sebum production and more pimples.
I’ll go through your routine with you for some suggestions.
For day, you might not need the oxy stuff. Zit creme can be harsh and leave your skin red. You should probably only treat your skin at night.
For night, you definitely don’t need to tone twice a day. In fact, some toners are completely useless. You might want to try a tea tree cleanser instead of the heavier ones, and skip toning all together. You’re 15, and probably don’t wear enough make-up to need one.
Overall: Your routine seems complete. The real test is if it’s working for you. If you like your skin with this routine, then don’t change a thing. If your skin is red or dry during the day, don’t use zit products in the morning. If your skin is oily in the day, use blotting paper instead. Another thing you could try at night is St. Ives exfoliating apricot scrub, or their gentle one if you have sensitive skin. You should get used to exfoliating, as when you’re older and your skin doesn’t renew as fast, you’ll need it. Remember not to over- or under-moisturize. Just enough so that it all absorbs completely and leaves no greasy residue, but no dry patches or tightness either.
Some more tips:
1. Never take long or hot showers
2. Get enough sleep at night
3. Change your routine seasonally. You’ll need a richer moisturizer for winter, and a light one for summer.
Hope this helped.
