Why isn’t Proactiv helping my skin at ALL?
Long story short, had acne as an adolescent, was on birth control for about 3 years and had fantastic skin, stopped taking it about 7 months ago and my skin has been absolutely horrible since.
I’ve been on proactiv for about 1 1/2 – 2 months and still no change whatsoever. In fact, my skin is consistently dry and my cheeks especially, and they don’t stop breaking out. I use the regimen religiously as directed, and no change.
I use the benzoyl peroxide cleanser (dime sized amount) in the shower after rinsing my face for a few seconds to get rid of the makeup. I use the toner (8 drops), use the benzoyl peroxide repairing lotion, follow it with the oil free moisture.
Do i maybe need the makeup wipes and the green tea moisturizer? should i just go see a dermatologist instead?

I used Pro Activ for about 6 months, roughly 4 years ago, and it was the worst treatment I’ve ever tried! I didn’t even have major acne when I started, just some pimples here and there, but it made my skin HORRIBLE. Honestly, my skin was 100 times worse than before. I discontinued using it and within a few weeks my skin cleared up. I recommend a gentle cleanser like Cetaphil (or if you have a Harmon near you, their brand is fabulous!), and Pond’s Dry Skin Cream to keep your skin hydrated. I’ve been using that combo for 2 years and no more zits!
