Daily Face Regimen Suggestions?
Hi ladies (and possibly gentlemen),
I’m taking suggestions for a new daily facial regimen as I am dissatisfied with mine. Please limit product suggestions to those available at Sephora (unless it’s just a totally awesome have-to-have-it product).
I currently 1.) Cleanse using Neutrogena Facial Cleansing Bar, 2.) Tone using Kroger brand Witch hazel, and 3.)Moisturize with RoC Complete Lift Daily Moisturizer. Yeah, nothing very fancy.
I have young, combination acne prone skin. I am dissatisfied because I still have a few blemishes every day and a couple cystic spots once a month and my skin is either oily or flaky every day by mid-morning. Help!
I have extremely oily skin during the summer and hot weather, combo oily with some dry patches during the winter time.
This is a drugstore skincare routine that works fabulously for me:
Alba Botanica Pineapple Enzyme cleanser followed by their Pineapple Enzyme scrub (gentle enough for everyday use). Every third day or so switch to St Ives blemish control scrub (too harsh for daily use but works very well with my skin)
Witch hazel as toner. I’d continue using this if I were you. It removes anything that may still be trapped in pores as well as tightens them.
I then use jojoba oil from jason natural as moisturizer. This is the perfect moisturizer for oily or oily/combo skin. It balances out skin, tricking oily parts into producing less oil, moisturizing dry spots. It also reduces redness, treats acne, prevents blackheads and wrinkles and can also be used as a makeup remover.
For nightly masks, no more than two nights a week to prevent overdrying, I use St Ives Timeless Mineral Clay Firming mask or Derma Topix Mint Clay mask. Clay/mud or Zinc oxide and sulfur masks as these are ideal for taming oily skin and treating acne, tightening pores.
In the morning after jojoba absorbs, during cold weather I apply plain milk of magnesia to parts that get oily. During the summer/hot weather I apply it to entire face and it keeps me matte without overdrying or irritating. Its really better than most high end primers I’ve tried for oily skin. with daily use it additionally tightens pores and prevents acne.
I then use an oil free foundation (doesn’t matter if liquid, mineral, powder, cream, mousse etc as long as its oil-free) or bb cream for oily/combo and set with Jurlique Citrus Silk if extremely oily, Jurlique Rose Silk if more combo. Jurlique is pretty pricey but worth it. If there is anything worth it to splurge on, it’s really this.
My makeup stays in place all day, no flaking, oil crisis, need to touchup. I also no longer get any breakouts unless I’ve severely stressed, rarely if hormonal.
I don’t use clinique or neutrogena as many on here recommend because personally clinique broke me out and neutrogena animal tests. I don’t know try them out if you don’t mind. They might work for you.
