I would like to try the new moisturizer with Green Tea and also the mask that Proactiv makes. Is there any way to purchase these two items, rather than the entire skin care system? No, I think if a 17 year old girl WANTED Proactiv she would have already gotten it for herself. It sends a bad message to your friend or whoever this girl is that she has bad skin. It’s sort of an insult and she’ll probably feel humiliated opening your gift in front of everyone.. like you’re broadcasting “SHE’S GOT ACNE!” to all the guests.
Also, this product is HORRIBLE. It’s harsh, it’s a waste of money, it doesn’t work, and in the end it makes you break out even WORSE, because it gets the skin dependent on all the chemicals. So if you’re looking for a good gift, do NOT buy Proactiv.

I am 19 years old. I have suffered with acne for at least seven years, and have tried everything that I can think of to get rid of it. To this day, I can at the very least keep it under control, but I want to do something for it that will keep it from coming back, either by shrinking my pores or by keeping them clean. For the record, I have tried Clearasil, Proactiv, St. Ives Apricot Scrub, Clearasil for Men Acne Scrub, Neutrogena Clean and Clear Acne Wash, as well as several treatments from my doctor, none of which were acutane, though I don’t know what they’re called. Proactiv help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
Ok, so I have proacyiv on the way and I’ve heard that it takes about 3-4 weeks minimum to have in kick in, but the thing is is that I ordered only the 30- day trial dor ten bucks and I am worried that my mom won’t see results and then won’t get me anymore, plus, becausevit comes with a travel kit, I know I can use that in the end if I need it, but my mom is makng me givevit to my little sis, is there any way I can speed this process up, get my mom to let me have the entire kit myself, and for her to take me too the store to get a makeup remover and a face lotion, I would also like some stories on how long it took proactiv to work for u.

I have been using Proactiv since February of 2008 and I LOVE it! I used to have very severe acne. I had tried every over the counter product imaginable and went to a dermatologist and tried every prescription imaginable (EVEN Accutane) and I was NEVER satisfied with the results until I started using Proactiv! One day I saw the commercial and decided to order it and I have never regretted it!
It personally took me 2 weeks before I saw an improvement. My skin started to feel better as soon as I started using it (softer, smoother, cleaner and healthier) but I continued to break out a little bit. After the two weeks it got SO much better and the break outs stopped and now my skin looks GREAT! Now I have the occasional breakout but they are usually triggered by stress or sleeping in makeup and the new Proactiv formula clears them up in just 1 or 2 day.
Proactiv just released a new formula for their 3 step system and I am in love with it. It is gentler and works faster than the previous formula did and it literally clears up my small breakouts in a day and large ones in 2 days. So hopefully you get the new and improved formula!
In order to help Proactiv work to the best of its abilities, make sure you follow the directions on the bottles but here are some tips I have learned along the way:
-Use the Three Step System TWICE A DAY, EVERYDAY. It is a system for a reason, the products are meant to be used together. If you have sensitive skin you may have to reduce to using the product only once a day but personally I never had a problem.
-Don’t sleep in makeup or anything like that because it will just clog your pores.
-DON’T GIVE UP! If you don’t see a change in 2 or 3 weeks doesn’t mean it wont work for you. (it took my sister over a month before she saw a change). Keep using it!!
-When I use the renewing cleanser (step 1) I always leave it on for about 2 minutes after I gently rub it into my face. (I usually brush my teeth while I wait) because the medicine absorbs into your skin for a longer period of time.

My suggestion as for your mom would be to talk to her about it and tell her what you’ve found out about the product and that its different for everyone and that if your skin doesn’t clear up she can always take advantage of the money back guarantee so she really does have anything to lose, if fact if she doesn’t order it for you again YOU might lose out on beautiful skin! Also if she is worried about the money she should look at it this way: once you start ordering the normal sized bottles of the product you are getting THREE PRODUCTS. I live in Canada so my cost may be different than yours but I pay around $50 every 2 months so basically it is $16 a bottle and it lasts 2 months. Bottles at my drug store for over the counter products are about $10 or more and they last maybe a month and they have never worked for me so they were just a waste of money AND didn’t give me the money back when they didn’t work.
If you do continue to use PRoactiv don’t forget that they have so many other great products, the 3 step system is just the start of it! Here are some of my favourite Proactiv products:
- The Refining Mask can work miracles on stubborn breakouts – I like wearing it to bed or while I clean the house. It dries the little problem spots up really quickly. Plus whenever I wear it I feel as though I am having a little spa day at home!
- The Green Tea Moisturizer is great for calming down the skin and making it look less irritated while it moisturizes. I use it every day before I leave the house and even as a base and tinting it with foundation when I wear makeup. I live in Ontario and the winter gives me such dry skin so I literally carry the Green Tea Moisturizer with me everywhere, it conquers my dry skin QUICKLY and lasts.
- The Clear Purifying mask is much like the refining mask except that you can wear it under your makeup or to work/school because it is see-through. I like how it does such a great job at drying up acne while I go along with my normal daily activities. It also has Green Tea extracts so it helps to soothe the skin as well.
- I use the Proactiv Makeup Removing Cloths a lot as well when I get home from work and school. They are great for cleaning up my skin in between my morning and evening 3 step system treatments.
- But my all time FAVE Proactiv product is the Advanced Blemish Treatment. It’s a tiny little tube that is jam packed with acne fighting power. You just dab it on like a spot treatment and within the day it will decrease the size of the pimple! I wear it under my makeup too because it’s clear!

Questions about Proactiv?
I am considering getting Proactiv, but I have a few questions.
1. I have combination skin, so will it work for me? I know it doesn’t work on people with dry or normal skin, but what about combination?
2. How long does each order last. I would use it twice a day, so how long will one order last until I need another kit?
3. How good is it at preventing breakouts? I’m using clean and clear products, which do a good job clearing out pimples, but it doesn’t prevent breakouts like I want it to.
4. Which other product should I get: the refining mask, green tea moisturizer, or travel kit? My sister used proactiv and got the mask, and it worked great for me, but my skin got used to it and it didnt’ work anymore. I’m leaning towards the moisturizer, but what’s your opinion?
