Major break out during and after pregnancy?
Hi there. My face broke out really, really bad during my pregnancy. I tried many topical products to prevent it. I am now 2.5 months post pregnancy and face is still breaking out. I have used Proactive, and Obagi skin whitening, face masks and acne medication creams with no success.
Every day it seems like new pimples and red spots develop. Has anyone had this experience? What did you do? What do I need to do?

Either way, using that much product is just bringing all the dirt and oil to the surface, and one particular item may even be causing an irritation.

How to heal red marks from spots?
On my chin, from where I had spots previously, the red inflamation strongly remains. This means that there is an appearance of red scars peppered all over my chin and they look rather deep seated. I use Dermalogica, The Body Shop seaweed facial wash, and other good exfoliators however I only exfoliate once a week and use the gentle Dermalogica Microfoliant daily (as advised by a specialist). I also drink a lot of water, green tea, etc. and eat quite well along with treating congested skin with tea tree oil, toothpaste or sudocrem depended on the state. If anyone has any tricks or particular foods, products etc. that they find help with them I’d really appreciate the information!

It sounds like papuloputular Rosacae (one of the types). Typical treatments with not huge success include antibiotics or steroids or sulfur-containing creams. I don’t think tea tree oil or toothpaste, which assume an underlying infection are going to work. They are basically natural versions of the antibiotics and don’t address the cause.
A colleague from China, also an MD, had a type of Rosacae, and explained that it was treated as inflammation (a hot condition) usually associated with stress and strong anger emotions in traditional Chinese Medicine, using herbs to ‘cool’ these things and working on the stress. This approach was markedly more effective than the Western remedies. The herbs will vary according to individual, different sexes and different ages will have different hormone levels/needs which may or may not be out of balance that can be addressed, so it’s best to go to a practitioner. An anti-inflammatory regimen with those herbs might help.
I will look in my files to try to find what she was prescribed and post back, but again, they are individual and it would be good to go to a reliable Chinese Medicine practitioner to get your personal prescription.

Some herbs that are used in Chinese medicine for rosacae include Scute, Gentiana, Gardenia, Bupleurum, Alisma, Angelica, Rehmannia, Licorice. Again, it would be better to get a compounded lotion just for you from a practitioner.

have acne and dark spots on my face and on my back, I bought the Obagi Products In about two weeks in the treatment the dark spots start to improve. I say yes! yes! I found something that work. I had a heating mask and I wash my face put on the heating mask then apply the obagi then one week after I notice the spot and my face start to get dark. what the heck I did to my face! So I have not been to the doctor sense so afraid to hear some bad news.

I have fair skin, blue eyes and light hair. My forehead is flaky and dry, it also have fine ”lines” it is obviously dehidrated. my lower cheeks are also dry. my nose is a little oily and so is my chin. I am 29. I am looking for the best products to use. at the moment I am using dermalogica and this is not doing what I want, if you are a dermalogica fan, could you suggest another treatment. so products can be in this price range. You should gently exfoliate your skin to get rid of the flakes and dead skin cells. Use a facial cleanser made for combination skin and an oil free moisturizer. If the oil free moisturizer doesn’t do enough for the dry patches, you may need to use two different ones. That’s what I have to do. I do not know what brands you have available in your area. I have used the Olay cleansing pillows that already have the facial cleanser in them. Those have one side that exfoliates and the cleanser is not too drying. Right now I am using Garnier Nutritioniste Skin Renew System which has a polishing exfoliater and moisturizer. The moisturizer may be a bit rich for the oily areas however. It is for me. I tend to be oily just on my nose and the part of my cheeks right next to my nose. For that area, I use Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture spf 15. As I said, I am not sure what brands are available to you, but maybe you could find similar products.
